Texas Education Association approves TutorMe as a full-service provider of the vetted Texas Tutor Corps Program

10-Second Summary

In effort to meet statewide requirements for instructional intervention, TEA approves TutorMe as a vetted, full-service provider for K–12 school districts implementing high-impact tutoring.

EL SEGUNDO, CA (OCT. 4, 2022)TutorMe, the leading online tutoring solution creating access and opportunity for all students, announced the Texas Education Agency (TEA)  approved TutorMe as a full-service provider for the 2022–2023 Vetted Texas Tutoring Corps (VTTC) Program. The statewide  initiative aims to accelerate student learning by directing Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to vetted tutor providers in their regions.

In June of 2021, Texas state legislators passed House Bill 4545, which establishes new requirements for students who did not pass the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR). HB 4545 requires schools to provide at least 30 hours of tutoring per school year for any student who did not pass the STAAR test in grades three, five, or eight in math or reading. TEA-Approved Providers have been vetted to ensure they meet the research-based components of high impact tutoring. LEAs may use local ESSER funding for these programs.

“We’re proud to meet the research-based components required of the VTTC program to provide high-impact tutoring to students in the state of Texas,” Kayla Fargo, Vice President of Marketing at TutorMe. “TutorMe is uniquely positioned to support school leaders in implementing online tutoring at scale and with ease, which enables students to more quickly access individualized instructional support—when and where they need it most.”

TutorMe pairs students with tutors in an online, 1:1 setting that replicates the in-person learning environment—including face-to-face collaboration through live audio/video chat. Available 24/7, TutorMe empowers learners who feel more confident and productive in a virtual setting with no scheduling necessary.

The VTCC program is made up of several TEA-approved and subsidized tutoring providers that assist districts in meeting statutory requirements for supplemental accelerated instruction. View the complete list of approved providers here.
